My roommate seems to be a bit challenged when it comes to your basic, nose-first perpendicular parking. Last year I found his old car, a Chrysler 300, !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! with a Honda Accord (although that was more the other car’s fault). Now he’s scraping the nose of his new Maxima on the parking barriers. Before I saw this I actually let him drive the Alfa today, albeit with me in the car.
Not my coffee.
Ironically he’s actually almost as good at parallel parking as I am.

Not if you put em on the front bumper!
But originally, yes. They were meant to prevent scuffing the wheels/whitewall tires.

The first time I drove my E36 after only driving my 4Runner for a few months I ran the nose straight into a curb. The noise was so cringe inducing I can’t for the life of me understand how people do this on a regular basis when they aren’t getting into a low-slung car when they’re accustomed to an SUV

What struck me about the photo are that the above is my car. Check the plates.
And my wife HATES the plate number and wants me to replace it. Guess why?

Why?

She’s Chinese (born here, parents came over). 4 is considered a really unlucky number. Four 4s is really bad.
It’s a random plate I got in May. Presume your roommate got the car in May or June.

Love the sound when they try to back away from their mistake
